Turkey bacon burger
A well-seared patty, golden turkey bacon, melting onions and a homemade sauce: the weekend burger, halal-style.

The recipe
- 15 min preparation
- 20 min cooking
- Serves 4
Ingredients
- 4 burger buns
- 4 halal beef burger patties
- 8 slices of Mon Deliss turkey bacon
- 2 onions
- 1 tomato
- A few lettuce leaves
- 4 slices of burger cheese (optional)
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Salt and pepper
Method
- Thinly slice the onions and cook them gently in the oil over a low heat, stirring from time to time, until soft and golden.
- Make the sauce: mix the mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard.
- Fry the turkey bacon slices in a hot pan, without any fat, until golden and crisp. Set aside.
- Cook the patties over a high heat, 2 to 4 minutes on each side depending on how you like them. Season with salt and pepper. If using cheese, place it on the patties towards the end of cooking so that it melts.
- Halve the buns and toast them, cut side down, in the frying pan or in the toaster.
- Assemble the burgers: sauce, lettuce, patty, turkey bacon, melting onions, a slice of tomato, then the top of the bun.
Our tip
Turkey bacon brings crunch and flavour: fry it until golden just before assembling, so that it stays crisp. And prepare the onions first, as they take the longest.
When it comes to cheese, if you pay attention to its composition, check the label: some cheeses are made with rennet of animal origin.
Variations
- Chicken: replace the patty with a breaded halal chicken fillet.
- Spicier: add a few slices of chilli or a touch of harissa to the sauce.
- Fresher: replace the melting onions with thin rings of raw red onion.
What to serve it with
Homemade chips or oven-baked potato wedges, and a crunchy cabbage salad.
Turkey bacon is also perfect for a weekend brunch.
